Colorado Community Health Centers Celebrate the Season of Giving

The holidays are often thought of as a time for reflection, celebration, and joy. This “season of giving” provides an opportunity to reflect on the generosity of people in our communities. It is also a great time to recognize and celebrate what Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Colorado do for their communities throughout the year, and the important impacts they have on medically underserved individuals throughout the state.

CHC employees generously give their time, energy, and passion to serve their community members who otherwise would not be able to access medical services. Across the state, Colorado’s 18 CHCs provide services at 159 clinic sites to over 600,000 people. These patients accessed 2,013,473 visits for much needed medical, dental, behavioral health, vision, and enabling services in 2012. Forty percent of these patients are uninsured, and 94% have incomes under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Without the opportunity to access health care, many of these individuals and families would not be able to afford services to meet their basic health needs.

Not only do CHC staff members provide essential health care, but they also provide high quality, patient-centered, and culturally competent services. Staff at CHCs are mission driven and community focused, and believe in the value of providing services to the most underserved populations. Their generosity and compassion is something to celebrate during this season of giving!

What will you give this holiday season and in the year to come? Consider working with a CHC team to contribute to health care access for underserved populations in Colorado.
