Rocky Mountain PBS Recognizes a CHC Leader

At the annual NewsMakers Luncheon on April 24, 2012, Rocky Mountain PBS recognized John Parvensky, President of Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH), with the 2012 Be More Award.

The Be More Award honors an individual in the community who demonstrates innovative leadership and service to the community. The Be More Award states “In challenging times, leaders emerge who show exceptional vision and judgment that result in positive outcomes benefiting the entire community. Rocky Mountain PBS honors these extraordinary few who move us forward and inspire others to forge similar paths.”  John Parvensky has dedicated over 25 years of service at CCH working to continually provide integrated health care, housing and service programs.

The mission of the CCH is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. Mr. Parvensky demonstrates the criteria required of the Be More Award by providing solutions to homelessness through education and outreach, implementing community programs, and by being a social entrepreneur. In 2011 Mr. Parvensky created another innovative, lasting solution to end homelessness; CCH opened a 98-unit sustainable housing center named the Renaissance Uptown Lofts dedicated for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. The energy-efficient building at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Pearl Street in Denver blends supportive housing and job training experience at the Coalition owned restaurant, Pizza Fusion.

CCH employs 250 employees and in 2011 provided 125,524 visits to 13,055 patients. Almost 100 percent of these patients lived at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty level and 80 percent were uninsured. CCH has clinic locations in the metro Denver area.  View CCH and other community health center (CHC) locations on this site map.
